Support for Windows 7 is ending on the 14th January 2020, which means there will be no more security updates or support for computers running Windows 7. You can still use your Windows 7 computer after support has stopped, it won’t stop working overnight, just that the computer will no longer receive updates to patch any new security problems. If a large number of people continue to use Windows 7 after the 14th January 2020, it could be an incentive for malicious users to target viruses at Windows 7 computers.
But what does that mean for your Windows 7 computer?
Sorry to say, but your computer will become a glorified typewriter! We wouldn’t advise using it for any financial transactions such as online banking and purchasing online.
What should you do now?
We would recommend getting a new laptop or computer sooner rather than later. We envisage the prices of Windows 10 computers will increase in the coming months, as people will be wanting to upgrade before January next year.
We can supply new and refurbished laptops, and we also build custom desktop PCs. When purchasing a computer from us we can advise you of the specification you will require for the tasks you wish to carry out. We offer a data transfer and set-up service with all computers we sell, so you can get on and use the computer without having to worry about setting it up.
I’ve tried Windows 10 before and didn’t like it, what can I do?
